Turkey has 72.56 millions of people, it is in the middle between asia and europe. 97% of its land in the asia peninsula and only 3% lies in the Balkan peninsula. 99% of the population are islams, only few people are christians and judaism. The capital city is Ankara.
pavilion:
The main inspiration for the exterior of the 2,000-square-meter rented pavilion was derived from one of the first known settlements in the world called "Catalhoyuk" in Turkish, the center of advanced culture in the Neolithic period. The pavilion looks like an amazing red and beige box with an animal sculpture, inviting visitors to explore a maze of dreams.
pavilion highlights:
1. The first section of the pavilion will take visitors through a journey of time to learn about Turkey's historical firsts. A map indicating the ancient sites of Turkey, the world's first mirror and the world's first man-built dam are featured here. In the middle section, a 360-degree movie will display scenes from the streets of Istanbul to reflect the pride of the city as the European Capital of Culture. Visitors will then encounter the future in the final section, which is represented by a symbolic figure of the phoenix, a mythical bird which dies in flames and is reborn from the ashes, to embody aspirations for the future.
2. A series of cultural activities will be staged, including traditional music and ballet performances as well as a traditional "Catalhoyuk" fashion show.
besides that, on 25th of septemper 2010, the turkey pavilion welcomed the 6 millionth visitors who is a couple from China. As a gift, the manager of this pavilion give a 8-days free trip to this couple for a honeymoon trip, how nich is that ?
also to celebrate the 1 miilions visitors who has already visited the pavilion, on the second level of this pavilion, there is a traditional turkish restaurant . they also hang out the banner on th wall with " better cuisine, better life" to represent the enthusiams of Turkish to the delicious food.
They served the kebab as the maincourse and bachalawa as desserts. All the visitors enjoyed the food and lovely dancing performance.
